    If no one plays up

    A would have 50 teams
    AA would have 75 Teams
    AAA would have 158 teams

And what's wrong with that?...If they wanted to split the AAA in two and make a AAAA, let em. That would work fine. Or they could go 600, 1200, and <1200. But that's the highest numbers I think would be fair for classification. And if this is done, no one should be allowed to play up. Make em play where they fit. If they used 600, 1200, and <1200 for classification it would go:
    A 65
    AA 86
    AAA 132
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

Hate to burst your bubble, but the 500/1000 break-points were for THREE grades.
The current system uses the top FOUR grades, so you should add about 37% to the numbers, meaning AA would be 685-1370.

It was a long time ago, but in Dayton they had jr high schools, so how would you account for kids in a grade that wasn't at that school? Do you count all the kids in the feeder school's freshman class for a senior high?

I don't understand why so many ppl. have a problem with that concept.
Seems like Gate City was the "problem" the past few years. Grades 9-12. Four classes. It doesn't matter if they're in 1 building, or 2, or 6. Enrollment is based on four classes, not the "physical" school building itself.

And Jr. Highs have been unheard of in Va. for, well, forever. In the early 80's, only about 5 existed, and I think only 3 exist now.

Maybe Va. does middle schools different? The only time I've heard of a MS sending kids to more than 1 HS is when the population explodes and another HS had to be built.

    Re: Playoffs then and now...

    A simple, if stupid, question:
Will the local playoff games (Kelly/Lebanon, PV/GC, etc.) this upcoming weekend be played on Saturday as they usually are? Or will they instead be played Friday? And at what time will these games be played, regardless of the day?

I saw your website VHSLHelper but didn't completely grasp the days/times of the games, so I figured I'd go ahead and get that goofy question out of the way so I can be prepared ahead of time for the games.

Could be wrong but I think by Region D guidelines all playoff games are to be played at 1:30 Saturday unless both teams agree to change the time.

I don't believe it is a guideline, but a common courtesy that is usually extended.
